Individual pieces for home or gifting, the whims include: aprons extraordinaire for domestic duchesses and playdough princesses of all ages, an ever-changing parade of patched, embroidered and appliqued soft furnishings, high tea accouterments, and fabric-covered journals and altered books.

Couture for small people, the wimcee range features hand-crafted one-off designs for children aged 0-12 years, with an emphasis on unusual combinations of colour and pattern, whimsical detailing, and customer comfort that suggests boho-chic-iness and timeless style.

A selection of special one-off designs for grown-up chickadees, the wimcee range includes bespoke totes, vintage designer pieces, and re-worked and upcycled garments, with a liberal smattering of wimcee signature felt and fabric hair and wear ornaments.

I have also produced a collection of sewn fabric works including collaged pouches, bags and wall hangings, which to me represent the merger of craft and art. Generally still functional, these pieces reflect my own interest in the ethnicity and the universality of patterns and motifs used in textiles from different periods and places in history.

My craft-as-art work has been exhibited at Hanasho Flower and Art at West End in Brisbane, and will be part of an exhibition at Robyn Bauer Gallery, Paddington, early in 2012.  I also have some pieces available at the Bleeding Heart Gallery gift shop in Brisbane City.

In my other guise as a painter I have been executing work in oils, pastels and drawing media for many years and have taken part in numerous exhibitions locally and in regional Queensland. In the 1990’s I was a featured artist with the annual ACT exhibition, and I have also won a series of prizes for my work.

Apart from figurative work and still life, I have also undertaken many private and commercial portrait commissions of adults and children.

With a background in teaching and training, I have delivered classes and seminars in drawing, painting and portraiture, most recently through TAFE.
